Design Lab
Initial lighting and design concepts are developed at the Barcelona Creative Lab (BCL), in close proximity to the XAL Competence Center (XALcc) in Graz. These two centers inspire and support each other. The XAL team researches and extrapolates trends, developing concepts at the highest level of lighting technology. XAL collaborates with international designers, architects, and lighting consultants, continuously striving to push boundaries and realize challenging designs. Courage and an open mind are the values of XAL's Design Lab, fostering groundbreaking innovations.
Research and Engineering
The XAL Competence Center provides the necessary experimental infrastructure to transform bold ideas into revolutionary products. Design prototypes are refined until assembly testing at XAL's headquarters meets technological, economic, and design requirements. Because all relevant development, testing, and production processes are conducted in-house, XAL can rapidly and flexibly implement custom designs and meet specific customer requirements. The results speak for themselves. XAL has over 70 registered patents worldwide, and the continuously evolving product portfolio delivers superior performance.
In-house Production
XAL believes that the highest quality and flexibility can only be achieved through in-house expertise along the value chain. That's why XAL self-produces almost exclusively in-house with advanced production technology at XAL's plants. Every step is carried out at XAL's modern production facilities - from electronics manufacturing, turning, milling, laser engraving and molding to electrostatic painting and final finishing. This gives XAL maximum quality control, even for one-off and on-demand products, and allows XAL to react quickly to customer requirements. And XAL pays attention to our environment.

Quality laboratory
XAL's many years of LED experience ensure the highest quality throughout the entire production process. LEDs are analyzed with precise spectral radiometry upon delivery. Extensive quality tests are carried out in every area, from PCB production on optimized production lines, in high-end ESD assembly areas to the finished product. XAL's light laboratory uses goniophotometers to measure whether luminous flux and light distribution meet requirements. All luminaires are tested for electromagnetic compatibility in the EMC chamber. Accurate measurement of color temperature and lamp efficiency is also crucial. This is how XAL optimizes each product for its specific application.
